Overview The Kentucky Boarding Home Program is administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Any home in Kentucky with three or more adults offering boarding services is supposed to regulate its home facility. The members living in the facility can be either the owner of the house, a manager siblings, or married couples. The residents are provided with boarding and lodging facilities to people on a 24-hour basis. Definition of a Boarding Home According to the law of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, any home facility with three or more people residing in it and providing accommodation space to people on a twenty-four-hour basis is termed a boarding home in the state of Kentucky. It should be kept in mind that if that facility is already being licensed by any hotel in the state or by cabinet then it is not considered a boarding house as per the law. Regulations and Requirements The boarding house must specify and follow a set of rules and regulations. The boarding house must inform the residents in writing about all the rules. The residents of the boarding house can exercise their freedom of speech and privacy. The boarding house should be free of any mental or physical abuse License Renewal You will have to renew your boarding license after a certain time and if you fail to do so, you’ll have to stop providing boarding services until the renewal of the license. Eligibility and Fees The Kentucky Boarding Home Program is eligible for families who fulfill the eligibility requirements of the program. The applicant must pay an annual registration fee of $100 for the boarding home in Kentucky. License Renewal Procedure The boarding house must specify and follow a set of rules and regulations. There is a 90-day duration before the license expiration date, during which you can apply for a new license. Documentation and Requirements You need to provide a profile of the client you will be serving along with your house details including accurate site plan and floor plans. Rules and Services Provide boarding house conduct codes and outline offered services. You will have to present a plan for your business management, staffing level along with specifying the total number of days for which an individual can take residency at your boarding facility.
