Massachusetts Senior Care Options (SCO)

The Massachusetts Senior Care Option (SCO) is covered under the Medicare and MassHealth program. The program also goes by the name of “Senior Care Organization.” The purpose of the program is to provide healthcare facilities to elder citizens through certified healthcare professionals and contractors. The program is responsible for providing a cohesive healthcare model to the senior citizens. The contractors provide a healthcare plan known as the “SCO Plans” to the eligible elderly people who include various services like primary as well as specialty Medicare and Medicaid Services. The program also covers the cost of transportation, drugs, and medical checkups and provides long term care in community homes.

To be eligible for the Senior Care Options (SCO) in the state of Massachusetts, the participant must be 65 years of age or older than that and must be living in a nursing care facility for a long term. The participants whose healthcare is covered by the MassHealth Standard and Medicare program are eligible to apply for the program. Participants who are living within the geographical boundaries of the Senior Care Options (SCO) program are eligible to apply for the program’s benefits.

There are currently six Senior Care Organizations in the state of Massachusetts where the seniors can apply for enrollment. To find what plan is suitable for you, you can either contact the Senior Care option Program or the individual organization depending on your feasibility.
