The KHCCP is administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to provide prevention ad care to the patients of HIV and AIDS disease. The purpose of the program is to arrange quick and quality care to these patients most effectively and efficiently possible. The program also extends its support to the families of the patients. In Kentucky, seven regional care coordinator sites provide prompt services to deserving patients and the aim is to make AIDS/HIV care available to a wide range of individuals.
The financial assistance provided by the Kentucky HIV/AIDS Program (KHCCP) is available to families with an income of 500% of the FDL. People who do not have any other means of financial assistance like a third-party party are given priority. The patient needs to provide his or her medical documents that declare them HIV positive to be eligible for the KHCCP program. One component of the KHCCP program is KADAP and the program helps low-income people of Kentucky to buy AIDS medication approved by the doctor. The program provides financial assistance to these people which are provided through mails. To be eligible for the program the patient needs to provide their DC4+ T cell count medical documents along with the documents of their viral load test.
Another component is the Kentucky Health Insurance Continuation Program (KHICP). This program is for people who have AIDS-related disease who lost their health coverage provided by the employer. The program gives monetary support to such patients to help them continue paying for their health coverage.
The goal of the KHCCP is to help patients receive self-sufficiency. The program also provides a way to strengthen the relationship between the patient’s family and friends and the doctors and the nurses who look after the patients.
