Kentucky Child Care Assistance Program

The Kentucky Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) is administered by the Division of Family Support and assists families who are not able to pay for their childcare fees. The Division of Child Care in the state of Kentucky takes all responsibility for providing financial and non-financial child assistance to parents. The Division of Family Support also helps eligible providers and clients to apply for the program.

Applicants who belong to an underprivileged background and are either part of the SNAP Employment & Training (E&T) Program or adults with a job can apply for the Kentucky Child Care Assistance Program. Applicants who are studying at college and are unable to take care of their child for a time being are also eligible to apply. The recipient of the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program can also participate in the Child Care Assistance Program’s work and employment activities like education, job hunting, etc. The purpose is to help the family get a stable job to be able to afford childcare and self-sufficiency in life.

The program’s work requirements must be fulfilled. In case they are not, the family needs to either find employment or get enrolled in an educational institution within 12 months. If they fail to do so, they will no longer be qualified to apply for the program.

The Kentucky Child Care Assistance program also assists the child with unstable families and has been determined by the Division of Protection and Permanency/Kinship Programs. Similarly, parents who are teen and are currently finishing their high school can also apply for the program.

It should be kept in mind that the child should be under the age of 13-19 years (if the child has a disability). The parent should be complete 20 hours of work every week if they are a single parent and 40 hours for both the parents.

The applicant’s household gross income should be either equal to or below 160% of the FDL (Federal Poverty Level) to be able to apply for the Kentucky Child Care Assistance Program. At the time of recertification, the applicant should have a gross household income below 200% of the FDL level. The applicant does not need to fulfill the income eligibility if the Division of Protection and Permanency has approved the case.

It should be kept in mind, that any violation of the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) by providing wrong information about your eligibility requirement to get the program benefits is considered fraud and the applicant can lose their program benefits or even go to jail for it. If the applicant has intentionally lied on the application form, the program has the right to discontinue their services.

Fraudulent Claims

The applicant can change their income information by decreasing it to meet the eligibility criteria. They can also change either their residential address or size of the household to attain the CCAP benefits in the state of Kentucky.

Not only the applicants but the providers can also commit fraud in many different ways. The providers can lie about childcare when the family has stopped the childcare services. The provider can charger for full-time childcare who is only taking part-time services, or they might charge for more than the license can allow. Some providers can commit fraud by asking for payment for more than five absences each month without any proper documentation. All these can lead to wrongful charging by the provider and can have serious consequences when caught.
