Program Overview

The Arkansas Education and Training Voucher Program (ETV) is administered by the Arkansas Department of Human Service along with the state’s government. The program benefits young citizens from till the age of 26 with funds and grants for them to continue higher education in various institutions including colleges and vocational training centers. The funds are specifically given to youth who are in foster care or have been in foster care in the past. The amount of the fund can go up to $ 5000 each academic year for up to four years.

The Arkansas Education and Training Voucher Program (ETV) program provide funds to the youth with the permission of the federal government. The grand provided to students can be used for,

  • Paying the tuition fee
  • Buying books
  • Stationery
  • Transport fee
  • Child care services
  • Boarding expense
  • and other mandatory costs of education as required by the institution

The Arkansas Education and Training Voucher Program (ETV) follow the first-come-first-serve rule so to get the ETV program’s benefits it is important to apply as early as possible.

 Program Objectives

The Arkansas Education and Training Voucher Program (ETV) is targeted towards students who are unable to cover their education expenses due to financial problems. Youth who belong to underprivileged backgrounds and live in foster care are mostly incapable of paying education expenses due to the high tuition fees and other expenses related to it. Thus, the goal of the program is to reach out to such people and support so that they can receive a quality education and live stable lives. This also helps the economy by increasing the literary rate of the country.

Eligibility Requirements

There are certain eligibility criteria that an applicant must fulfill to be able to qualify for the Arkansas Education and Training Voucher Program (ETV). Those are,

  • The applicant needs to be a legal and permanent citizen of the United States of America
  • The applicant needs to be a residence of the state of Arkansas
  • It is important the students either live in foster care or have been a part of the foster care in the past. There are certain requirements including,
  • The student must of 18 years of age at the time of living in the foster care
  • Or the student has been legally adopted at the age of 16 from a foster care
  • Or the student has lived in the foster care where he/she has completed their secondary education
  • The applicant must be between the age of 18-21 to apply for the first time for the ETV program in the state of Arkansas.
  • Or, the student no longer lives in foster care after the age of 18
  • Or, the student’s case has been closed when they were between 18-21 years of age
  • the total asset of the applicant should not exceed $10,000 ( including, home, car, banknotes, etc.)
  • The applicant has been selected for a college program or vocational training institute.
