KENTUCKY HART-SUPPORTED LIVING PROGRAM

The Kentucky Hart supported living is a state-financed program that is intended to assist and help inhabitants of Kentucky. This scheme is made to help individuals with physical or mental disabilities. The individuals are provided with a certain amount of financial benefit. The purpose of this scheme is to help such individuals stay in their homes instead of getting admitted to different institutions. A choice is given to the members of the program to find out the kind of service that they need. They are also allowed to self-determine who they want the service to be provided by. The individuals are provided with financial aid so that they can figure things out on their own independently and get the kind of support they require. The individual is allowed to choose family members as well. The individual’s family can also be hired for help and given compensation in return. It is totally up to the choice of a member of the program. Relatives and friends can get money in return for the assistance they give to their disabled loved ones. The criteria dictate that the person needs to have a clean background. The purpose of this program is to

  • Increase the skills of individuals and help them feel at ease in society.
  • Raise awareness and empower the acceptance of individuals with disabilities as normal human beings etc.
Any individual who has a monthly income of fewer than $3190 per month can apply for the program. Another vital point in making the individual eligible is the individual’s family. If the family is determined in helping the person and will continue to do so, it can aid in making the individual eligible for the program. Individuals of Kentucky who have a mental or physical disability are eligible and therefore, welcome to apply for the Hart supported funds. The program will aid in Living in a house of one’s own choice Giving the individual power to decide the kind of assistance and services they require. Providing the individual a chance to be independent Services The financial aid provided through the program is classified into two types. The first one is the money granted for one-time buying whereas the second type includes the aid provided for continuing services. All the assistance and services needed should be declared beforehand. The benefits of this program include Providing medical appliances like wheelchairs, walking sticks Upgrade in the individual’s house to make it easy upon him. For example, the installation of wheelchair ramps, etc. The modification should not cost more than 3500 dollars. Modifying the individual’s vehicle to encourage easy driving Help in training the individual to learn basic life skills like cooking, washing, cleaning, laundry, etc. It is not an income support scheme. Hart-Supported Living doesn’t give funds to on-going everyday costs, for example, home loan or lease installments, service charges, food costs, fixes disconnected to an individual’s inability, unpaid doctor’s visit expenses or medical coverage expenses, or the buy or rental of a vehicle. The Regional Coordinators accept the applications and then survey them. The application cut off time every April first with financing accessible for affirmed candidates in July. Numerous components of this program don’t naturally recharge. Hence, members should re-apply in April. There is no stand by list. If a candidate applied for reserves and didn’t get subsidizing, the person in question must apply next year. The application can be obtained in three ways.
