Delaware General Assistance

General Assistance program was started by the Delaware State; it is a state-funded program whose main initiative is to provide cash to those families who had low-income resources and they cannot meet their all needs, people who don’t qualify for the programs which are funded by the federal government, such as the programs are Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or Social Security Benefits. The General Assistance service is provided by the Division of Social Services. Now the question that arises about this Delaware General Assistance programs is the following: 

Eligibility Criteria

To get eligible for General Assistance program here are some of the main eligibility points that you must have:

• You must be a resident of Delaware.
• Your age should be 18+.
• Any child who is under the age of 18 and has no means of income. (The state will ensure that the child is not involved in any other activities so after getting eligible for this program the county will send the children to the foster house.)
• Any family who has low resources of income and their income should be below the criteria which are set by the state.
• You must have legal immigration status.
• Follow all rules which are by the state and other rules should be followed for getting eligible for this program.

 Time Limits and Rules

• Most people get the GA for 3 months instead of annually.
• Many states require that you need to be a working person.
• If you are a disable person and couldn’t go for work and then there is no time frame that how long you can get the General Assistance.

How to Apply

You need to apply from the state that you live in because many of the states want to see you in person. You must have a photo ID, any original immigration proof if you are not the citizen. If you are having the bank account so you should bring the last bank statements of your bank.

Let’s think GA as a loan, the state will ask you to sign an agreement that if you are eligible for the SSI benefits as you are disabled, the state will pay all the benefits that are paid to you, during the times you were eligible for SSI. If you are having your home so you must give the possession of your home to the state. If you get the job after leaving the GA program and started earning more amounts so in this case the GA will ask you to re-pay all the benefits that you earned from the GA program.

If you are having low income then you can apply to your state for the Medi-Cal, so your state will provide you all the health benefits that you need you should ask for it if you are eligible.

You may also get eligible for the program in which the state helps the people to get food for a daily basis on the behalf of the Cal-Fresh program.

If you were offered a job and you didn’t accept it and refuse it, you refuse to do any type of training or any work, you break any rule of the state or you don’t meet any of the rules of the state and broke any rule, so the state will reject your application of General Assistance for 180 days.

• If you are sharing your home with your any housemate so the state will give you relief in the General Assistance Program.
• State can deny your application for the General Assistance program if you got any warrant arrest on your name and you get arrested, so the state had the right to cancel your application but unless you appeal for it.
• You will not be eligible for the General Assistance unless and until if your children are on the CalWORKS program, even that you are not eligible for the program. So then you will be rejected.
