The Oregon Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) support families with healthy and nutritious meals and snacks. The people who can avail of this program include children and adults who are eligible for participation and are registered at child care centers, adult daycare centers, and daycare homes.
Eligible participants can also include children enrolled in after-school care programs, children from emergency shelters, as well adults who are a minimum of 60 years of age, disabled or participating in daycare facilities. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) provides funding for the Oregon Department of Education Child and Adult Care Food Program (ODE CACFP).
This program aims to provide nutritious meals to low-income families and improve the health of the nation by enhancing the quality of child and adult daycare centers. The program offers detailed instructions on what kind of meals to serve and portion sizes. Reimbursement is provided to make it affordable for low-income families. The ODE CNP and Oregon state sponsors are also required to conduct training and supervision of program providers.
Meal Components: The food items provided under this program include: milk, vegetables, fruits, grains, flakes, granola, meat, eggs, cheese, beans, peanut butter, soy nut butter, and yogurt

The following groups can be eligible for the CACFP:
Children who are aged 12 or younger, Children who are enrolled in Homeless or Emergency Shelter programs, or Afterschool At-Risk programs if they are 18 years and younger, Children of migrant workers who are aged 15 years and under, Applicants who are enrolled in child care and are mentally or physically impaired and 18 years or younger, Adults who are enrolled in participating adult daycare centers
The following service providers can participate in this program in the state of Oregon:
- Child Care Centers
- At-Risk Afterschool program
- Adult Day Care Centers
- Homeless Emergency Shelters
- Family Day Care Homes
Three categories decide the reimbursement rates. Each household is required to submit a Confidential Income Statement (CIS) which will determine what category they fall into.
The participants in the free category receive the highest reimbursement, The participants in the Reduced-Price category receive lower reimbursement, The participants in the Above-Scale category receive the lowest reimbursement
