Massachusetts Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC)

The Massachusetts Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC) is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) and provide monetary support to adults and disabled people and families in the form of cash. Individuals and families who have not received their Social Security benefits can apply for the EAEDC program. The cash assistance varies from individual to individual land depends on factors like household income and total assets of the individual. Given the recent COVID-19 situation, it is advisable to check the program website for any changes in the program’s requirements.
The eligibility requirements for the EAEDC program differ for individuals and families. If you are 65 years old or older and have some form of disability while taking responsibility for a child that is not your biological child then you are eligible to apply for the EAC program. Similarly, if you are a caretaker to a disabled person at home and currently participating in the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission Program then you can apply for the Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC)
You are also eligible to apply for the EAEDC program if you are taking care of a child that is not your child but you have legal custody of the child. You will have to provide documents showing your legal custody of the child to be eligible for the EAEDC program. In case, you do not have the documents of the legal custody yet, then you can provide a good reason which is believable by the DTA to be eligible for the program services. For the caregiver, it is important to register him/herself on the One-Stop Career Center to apply for work. The EAEDC program has some rules for work that needs to be fulfilled by the caretakers to receive the program’s benefits.
The eligible candidate also receives healthcare services through the MassHealth program by EAEDC. However, those are limited medical services and to fully understand the MassHealth program kindly visit the Massachusetts Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled, and Children (EAEDC).
The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card provided to the recipients of the Massachusetts Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC) can only be used at shops specified by the program. The EBT card can only be used to fulfill the fundamental needs of a household including food, housing, and clothes. You cannot use it to buy expensive products like jewelry.
