The resent 76tH yearly World Health Assembly, emphasized highly on the better condition, thus, access to rehabilitation centers. All the major members of World Health Organization (WHO) made a comment and added to the conversation that they are truly working on expanding the very capacity of rehabilitation.
From strengthening the financial situations of the rehabilitation centers around the globe to expanding the access as much possible. Not to forget that World Health Assembly is held every year and this was the very first time that a topic on rehabilitation was brought up and reiterated on. the news brought a pleasant wave back as all the public health advocates applauded the conversation and the non-binding commitment by WHO.
From Humanity and Inclusion (an organization for disabled individuals) added;
“A world where around 2.4 billion people are living with conditions which may require instant rehabilitation, therefore, the necessity for it in our lives is a must…”
Following up the conversation, they added;
“But unfortunately, it is neglected highly, and under-prioritized along with not recognizing with on a global level…”
The fact that rehabilitation as a whole is under-prioritized is due to the fact that it is highly under funded and limited. To put it in a nutshell, a young prosthetist and orthotist commented that,
“Rehabilitation is not something that people think about often unless they need it”
The future, however, looks hopeful and optimistic. As much the importance is given on then internal and external aches of a human body, the mental one needs it equally or more at times. So, in times like these and with such horrifying figures, the news definitely comes as a pleasant news.
