The coronavirus pandemic started spreading everywhere in March 2020. Since then, people have been experiencing one downfall or another. However, jobs and workplaces started to function normally, but the schools’ departments remained shutting for a significant time. In the US several schools are maintaining their system through online conduction of studies, but numerous are left behind. Those that are left behind do not have financial wellness or technological support. To assist this need of the hour, AmeriCorps started a program in Kentucky.
Initiation
This program FRYSC Corps was planned and initiated by AmeriCorps. However, its regulation was dependent upon other schools and society members. The corporation provided a functioning healthcare program as well as an academic plan to help with all sorts of deficiencies. Along with a helping hand, the corporation promised to keep track of an overwhelming majority of coronavirus cases. Therefore, the KY Department of Public Health assures to analyze the preparedness towards virus and household conditions.
Main Objective
This program specifically focuses on the students whose academic future was crumbling under the influence of the coronavirus pandemic. The educational assistance ranges from the students of kindergarten till high school. To meet the literacy goals full-time and half-time volunteers were hired. Since the goal is to erase the obstacles that occur in a student’s life, this program had extended to families that are willing to host children.
Duty of volunteers
- Identifying student’s interest to provide them with sufficient content for reading
- Looking for new opportunities and plans to provide students
- Arranging events to promote inclusion and to emit racial differences
- Overnight tour planning for effective training
- Occasional meetings for better communication among students and society
Coverage
The program covers schools and the people of Kentucky. According to the US, it is ranked third or fourth state with 120 countries. The main areas to focus upon are:
- Food security
- Development of youth
- Educational efficiency
Report
The Public Opinion Survey has shown successful results. The students assisted just in the right time have grown to be significant members of society who are not only stable at the individual level but are contributing to national development. The report is dependent upon the reviews taken from about 25,414 members. The analytical results show:

Strong Communities
The program serves to build a healthy relationship among US states and communities. A speculator has always seen growing differences among people belonging to various states. The initiative to include host families promotes flexibility among youth. It constructs a network of connections that will help out the state in national development. AmeriCorps have put thoughtful element here as interaction with various people will provoke creative sense in students. Its benefit will affect the bringing up of those kids as most of them do not lead a peaceful life.
Human Security
FRYSC Corps intend to ensure human security among youth and children who are leading a crumbled life. The objective of ‘Human Security’ is not only to provide people with successful academics and employment but to construct a flexible environment for eternal nourishment. Here most of the students brought are in a tightened situation. For instance, Erika Cordle a graduate from FRYSC schools shares that her upbringing in a drug addict family was not secure. But FRYSC Corps had made it possible for her to be the first college graduate in her family.
Coronavirus Pandemic
During the enormous spread of the pandemic, FRYSC has played a significant role. Before this, it used to facilitate the students and youth who were deprived of basic facilities of life, but now it has extended its focus to the department of schools that cannot function during coronavirus. Many schools were deprived of technological support and online systems to serve the students. Therefore, even those students are being considered. This objective majorly includes assistance from fellow schools and partners. The coaching volunteers are specially appointed to teach the kids effectively to develop a strong youth.
Youth and Children
The study schedules of students were highly disturbed during the lockdown. Most of the students were deprived of facilities to keep up with their academics and on the other hand, many of them did not take classes on their own. At this point, AmeriCorps has been a major force to lift the spirits of youth by providing them with a productive academic environment. It had intended to start this program in September 2020 since then it has been quite a success.
This program that has been functioning since 1991 continues to provide the communities. Specifically, the youth and students from kindergarten till 12th grade are assisted in the time of need. The FRYSC Corps not only has a good definition of standards, but it has public support and demand too. The institution is speculated to grow in near future considering its efficient services. AmeriCorps’ FRYSC on the whole has been a success.
